Evita’s post mortem makeover was rather fancy. Hours and hours of work by a dressmaker, hairdresser, manicurist, makeup artists and what not.Her embalmed corpse was put on display for almost two year until the new authorities removed her and she went missing for 16 years. She was eventually found buried in a tomb in Italy. She was exhumed and flown to Spain, where her former husband kept the corpse on display on his dining room table of all places for a couple of years..................

It's getting weirder. At this point, Juan Peron was 75 years old and married to his third wife, Isabel. In a odd domestic threesome arrangement, Juan and Isabel kept Eva's corpse on their dining room table where. Isabel combed Eva's hair every day and often--with Juan's encouragement--lay down beside the corpse in an attempt to absorb her charisma.

Back in 1955, the junta that overthrew Peron was stuck with Eva’s corpse, which they didn’t want to destroy nor bury in Argentina. They moved her from site to site, surrounded by what included a few necrophiliac guards. Eventually her body was smuggled out and buried in Milan in place of an Italian woman who died in Argentina. Many Years after a high ranking official was killed by guerrillas, who refused to return his body until Evita’s corpse was returned to “the people”.

@knutgordon my musical theatre teacher told me the story today, and she wasn't found in a tomb, she was taken to the tomb, hidden under a plain slab because of all of the riots that were going on because of Eva's death and so when they calmed down, Perons' wife after Eva ordered that she be brought back, Peron was dead when this happened. :s

@knutgordon You are right, she was after embalment taken to Italy as a deaceased italian widow under the name of Maria Maggio..but after 16years she was exhumed but not flown to Madrid, but taken by truck...this morbid cult of the dead is obviously something typically catholic.
